How do I set a timer for slides in Google Slides? I know how to do it in regular Power Point, but can't get it in Slides. Any help?
First of all, KUDOS for hanging in there with Slides and not reverting to [**GASP**] PowerPoint! This is a bit of a sneaky little hidden feature! It can, indeed, be done, but the one caveat is that you can't choose a different time for each slide - they all have to advance at the same pace.
To do it, click on the File menu in Slides, and scroll down to "Publish to the web." Click on it and you will see a drop-down menu under "Auto-advance slides" where you can choose the time you want. You can also opt to have your slides start playing as soon as you open the presentation, or to replay once they have gone through their cycle.
Once you have selected your preferences, just click "Publish," and you will be given a brand new link that includes the parameters you have selected:
Now you can just paste that link somewhere, email it, throw it into a bit.ly... whatever you want. The part I have in red above is the part that tells your slides how to play, and you can change this to customize it now that you have it. If you chose to not have it autoplay on start, but then change your mind, you can change start=false to start=true; if you decide you do want it to loop after all, you can change it to loop=true. The delayms I have above is 15 seconds; if you want it to be 45 seconds or something just change that part of the url to reflect the new time (delayms=45000).
Here is what the process looks like:
