HELP! Remember when a file used to reflect what folder I put it in? Can we not do this anymore?
AHHH... the curse of the missing files. Yes, yes I do remember this, just about as well as I remember to simply put a file in a folder as soon as I create it! Or better yet, to just create the thing in the folder to start with! Alas.
There are a couple of places where you might be able to find this out. First, if you click on the file, the path should show at the top. The exception to this would be with files that are shared with you (as in your example) because they aren't actually in your Drive. The second, though, might help; if you click on the i in the top right corner it opens up the information pane that will give you details about when, where, and who created it. The parent folder will show up there. If you click on the name of the folder, it should open up the folder (as long as you have access to it).
